I have mentioned before that I have been given the opportunity to work with Cooper&Co Solicitors as a Assistant Organiser with Trevor Cooper (interviewed him at Crufts earlier this year for this website). It’s an amazing opportunity to get first hand experience of current legislation (Most notably the Dangerous Dogs Act 1991 and the Animal Welfare Act 2006) and proposed changes that are coming in the future. Are these changes good or bad? Time will tell, but there is one thing I know for sure – it will effect every potential dog owner whether it’s restrictions in public places or compulsory microchipping that will come into place on April 6th 2016 (Wales a year earlier).
What an eventful weekend it has been! Spent last weekend at the London Pet Show, stewarding the Discover Dogs Breed Booths and The Kennel Club stand. It’s certainly been a great experience, met loads of interesting people in various industries of the animal world and species alike!
Will be posting a full review later this week.
In other news I’ve been given a temporary job with Cooper & Co Solicitors for the next coming talks and seminars in Dog Law hosted by Trevor Cooper. There will be a series of seminars around the country from London to Harrogate and to all types of owners which have been very popular by demand, especially at a time when animal legislation (notably the Dangerous Dogs Act 1991) is constantly changing. I’m certainly looking forward to it!
